prove you're human

Hey. My name is Katie. I write different kinds of things and make zines and books. You may have found this blog through my website The La-La Theory. If not, that's where you can go to read some of my work. This place here is where I post updates on writing I've published and events I'm participating in, plus whatever else I feel like talking about.

My review of Heidi Julavits’ new novel, The Vanishers, in Sunday’s Inquirer. I was ambivalent about this novel. It has some real strengths and some equally, ah, real weaknesses, I felt. She’s funny, though, and I admire and enjoy that.

My review of Erin Kelly’s 90s-goth mystery-thriller, The Dark Rose, is in today’s Inquirer. I got a kick out of this one.

My review of a new novel by Hilma Wolitzer is in this Sunday’s Philadelphia Inquirer. It’s kind of a romance, and I liked it in some ways; she’s a good writer. But in other ways I found it a bit silly.

My review of Richard Burgin's new book in the Inquirer →

It’s a collection of eerie short stories, somewhere between horror and literary fiction. I liked it pretty well.
